Restore Point Creator

Windows XP Support Update: I have had a change of heart when it comes to Windows XP support. The program will continue to have Windows XP support past the date of April 8th, 2014. It will however be extremely limited in it’s functionality because Windows XP doesn’t support much else. You will only have the ability to make restore points, restore to restore points, and that’s about it. The task scheduler will also be disabled on Windows XP and any existing scheduled tasks will be deleted as well. Debugging Windows XP task scheduling is proving to be far more difficult than originally thought to be because the DLL that I’m using to manipulate scheduled tasks wasn’t written for Windows XP, it was written for Vista or newer.

Changes to Release Schedule
All new versions will be a Build 1 version unless it’s an emergency update in which there will be subsequent builds of the same version branch. This is similar to how Mozilla Firefox versions are done except I won’t go wild with increasing the number before the decimal point.

Anyways, all new features and functionality will be added to a new version, not a new build. Those new features and functionality will stay in a public beta version for a period of testing to make sure that those new additions are stable before release to the general public.

This is all in an effort to try and stabilize the program and to slow down on the release schedule. In the past I was known to release new builds sometimes three to four (or more) times a week, that was a bad plan. These changes to the release schedule is to try and slow down on releases and keep the program relatively stable for the general public.

Guaranteed to contain absolutely NO spyware! The “Check For Updates” routine sends only two pieces of data to my web site; a program code (in the case of this program it is “restorepointcreator”) and the program’s major and minor version numbers (1.5, 1.6, etc.). That’s it! Absolutely no personal information is sent to my web site when checking for updates.

Ever found that creating Restore Points in Windows is a bit tedious?  Click this, click that, go there, click another thing, and then finally you’re at where you need to be to create a Restore Point.  There’s got to be an easier way to do all of that.  Right?  Well, now there is.

Introducing Restore Point Creator, written by Me.

Create and manage System Restore Points quickly and easily, all from a free simple program.  No more drilling through multiple menus in Windows just to create a System Restore Point, now all you have to do is run this program and that’s it.  Follow the simple program layout and you have your System Restore Point created in no time at all.

Plus, for users of Windows 7 and Windows 8, creating System Restore Points is even quicker and easier with this program.  Just pin this program to the Taskbar and you have the ability to quickly create System Restore Points using one of the two pinned Tasks (“Create System Checkpoint” and “Create Custom Named”) that the program creates.  It’s that simple.
◾Create System Checkpoint – Creates a System Restore Point with the name of “System Checkpoint made by System Restore Point Creator”
◾Create Custom Named – Asks you what you want your System Restore Point to be named and then creates one based upon what you inputted.

If you like this program, feel free to donate.  Or feel free not to donate.  It doesn’t matter to me.  Donations to use this program will never be required to use this program.  It is and always will be a free program.  But, if you do feel that you want to donate it would be a nice gesture of appreciation for the program.

A fan of this program decided to put together a video demonstrating the usage of this program. Thank you.
